Welcome to my newly designed blog
Hi, I'm Rebecca, but, if you're lucky I'll let you call me Bec. I like rainy days and make a fool of myself singing along in the car. I have a fabulous new husband and like to say 'YAY'. A lot. I'm a wedding and portrait photographer and absolutely love my job. Now that I've told you a bit about my story, allow me to capture yours.

This past year has been insane and I’ll be honest with you all. I have found it really, scratch that, extremely hard to stay on top of my business and especially my blog. I find it hard to believe that there are actually people out there reading and are interested in what I have to say, because, let’s face it, I’m really not that interesting. And I honestly don’t think I’m that good of a photographer. The thing that keeps me going is that I absolutely LOVE my job, and I love my clients. The rest just falls in to place, and my clients love my work. That’s why they hire me and they’re the ones that matter.

So I’m asking you all for a favour. Everyone. I need some inspiration. Having only had the business running full steam for 12 months, I’m trying to kick it off the ground so I can comfortably do it full time. One way you guys can help is by commenting. Leaving just a little comment below, even telling me what you’re having for dinner, can make all the difference to this small boutique studio. More comments leads to more traffic, which eventually leads to more shoots for me. And let’s face it, it’s a win win for all. :-)

Thanks friends. I’ll leave you all with some snaps from a recent boudoir shoot.

Happy Wednesday!

Whoa, what a roller coaster couple of weeks. Pete and I celebrated out first wedding anniversary last week and we went away on a road trip. Not just any road trip, but a Bathurst inspired, Mudgee winery attending holiday. But I’ll be blogging that tomorrow. For now, I want to tell you about Jorgia. Jorgia is the daughter of my boss when I was working at the studio in Ryde and she was and always is an absolute dream to photograph. I’ve always wanted to do a Breakfast at Tiffany’s inspired shoot with e little girl and I also worked it in with a competition I’m entering later in the month. I can’t say too much at this stage about it, but I can show you some. I hope you like. If you do, leave some comment love at the end!

This story came first hand. I tell no lie. They’re like my family. No no, they ARE my family. Carissa is my best bud. We’ve been friends since uni and she has 2 of the most amazing girls you’ll ever meet, and as far as I’m concerned, I’m family. And so I hear Ella thinks so too. Well… maybe a good friend. Either way, I’m her friend.

This story makes me happy all day long. We’re pretty sure Macailah and Ella think I’m their friend, not Carissa’s. Which I’m O.K. with. (Carissa, you know I love you, but it’s true, we’re only friends because of your kids and your smokin’ bod). Carissa and Ella were reading a story. Not just any story. A princess story. I was sold then and there, but trust me, there’s more to the story. They were reading and it turned out the princess’ name was Bec (and so it should be). Ella turns to Carissa and says:

“Bec.. as in.. as in.. MY Bec? MY Bec.”

Yes interwebs, I’m hers. And I love it.

Girls, you are amazing and are both going to grown into amazing, powerful women, and I can’t wait to be around to witness it.

A few weeks ago, Pete and I got to have a slumber party at our place with Macailah and Ella. Possibly the bestest slumber party I’ve ever been to.

We went to the park. Yeah, Pete and I are totally cool.

I heart lens flare. Plus, I heart Macailah.

Happy Thursday. How in the WORLD did it get to be Thursday? It scares me how fast the days go by.

As I’ve said before, they make me all mushy. Mushy and Gooey. Kinda like how Pete likes his peas on top of a meat pie. Yes, THAT mushy. But when that guy turns up at my door in his bright yellow and black suit, I scream like a girl. The fact that I AM a girl plays no part here because I would totally do it if I were a boy. Not ashamed to admit it. So would. So, when my door buzzer buzzed last week, this particular day was no exception. I screamed. Like. A. Girl.

Sean & Emmy’s and Katrina’s album arrived. Both so completely different in every way and I’m absolutely stoked with the outcome of both. A few framed prints arrived also. I kinda wish I was getting married again so I could order another one. Just for me. :-) Leather craftsmen never fail to amaze me. Ab-so-loot CHAMPIONS! Enjoy!

I love getting to know my clients in a deeper and more intimate capacity. During these times, I’m extraordinarily thankful to be invited into their private worlds to capture more of who they are, and I’m hoping to do that more by offering heiress sessions to my brides. Every bride is beautiful. Every woman is beautiful and I think it’s important that every girl knows this, no matter what shape or size. A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of joining my clients, Donna & Hulya, for their boudoir sessions to kick off my heiress sessions.

I shoot boudoir photos for my clients as a special gift a bride gives to her future husband… thanks Donna and Hulya for a fun morning. You two are beautiful.

For one month, anyone who books a boudoir session will receive 10% off their little black book. Call now (0431 238 936) or email me (rebecca@rebeccading.com.au).

Well, it’s been a busy winter here at RDP and I have LOTS to share with you all, but for now, here’s a sneak peek from yesterday’s shoot. Enjoy!

It’s the week for new beginnings. This week I have a new blog, a new website, a couple of brand new clients and my house is clean, so that’s a brand new experience for me too! So, in light of brand new experiences, it’s time to introduce a brand new segment on the blog. I’m simply gonna call it +10 -10, because, here is the chance for things, anything at all, to either earn an extra 10 points in this, the game of life, or lose 10. That’s right, I’m calling it. Based on my very technical and professional points system, whoever has the most points at the end wins. All rulings are final. Or something to that effect.

This week’s points go to:

- Pete. Just because. I think he’s pretty spunky.

- Bean read. They’re just around the corner from me and make Uh-mazing coffees. If you want to go, call me and I’ll come too! They MAY even be better than Starbucks. Maybe!

- Starbucks. They need no justification.

- Leather Craftsmen. I just received 2 amazing albums back from these guys and they never fail to impress. I wish I could move in with them.

This week’s minus points go to:

- Tim Tams. Good for the lips, bad for my hips. Very very VERY bad. However, if you eat them on a Sunday, then the calories don’t count. It’s just the way it works.

-My old piano. It sits there in the corner. Taunting me. Oh, Howard, how I used to play you once, but I think we need some time apart and you taunting me is not going to make it any better.

And because no post is complete without pictures, here’s one I took in the city after Sunday’s portrait session.

Happy Wednesdays!

I thought it most appropriate to kick off the new blog-fabulousness with an absolutely fabulous shoot. For almost 2 years, I had been planning a shoot. A shoot like no other I’ve done, where I would have complete control over lighting, props, subjects… anything. And thanks to the ahhmazingness that is Bec Tait, it all came together. There were dresses that were to-die-for, BRILLIANT hair and make-up artists, jewellery designers, you name it, it was there. I am so so SO happy with how it all came out and I think I am a better photographer because of it. I have made some brilliant new friends in the industry and my heart does a little jump everytime I look at them thinking of all the effort everyone put it. Champions.
